Whoopi Goldberg says she would fight a shark: 'Punch it in the face'

Make no mistake: Whoopi Goldberg will fight a shark.

The EGOT winner revealed her battle plan for a potential attack from a nefarious sea creature during Thursday's episode of The View, telling her cohosts that she's armed and ready if one ever tries to mess with her in the open waters.

Goldberg addressed the topic after discussing her fondness for The Shark Is Broken, a new Broadway play about the making of the movie Jaws, also revealing that she met up with Jaws star Richard Dreyfuss in the audience for the theatrical production.

"Are you going to be scared to get back in the water if you watch the show?" Sunny Hostin asked after Goldberg finished praising it.

"No. I mean, listen, I know what to do because that wonderful man who came to our show said [to] punch it in the face," the 67-year-old actress responded before lifting her arms as if a shark were fast approaching. "And so, you know, don't be scared. Think of somebody you really don't like and beat the poo out of that shark. Pow!"

Goldberg's declaration of war against sharks comes four months after she revealed that she had a "spooky" encounter with a VR headset that transported her to the depths of the sea.

"I put it on and I was under the ocean, because I love all the ocean stuff," she said, "and something came swimming by and I forgot that I had these things on, and I got up so fast that I fell over."

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
