Vina Morales' ex-hubby found guilty of kidnapping daughter

The singer's former husband Cedric Lee will have to pay P300 in fine and P50,000 in damages

30 May – Vina Morales' ex-husband Cedric Lee has been found guilty of kidnapping their daughter Ceana.

As reported on PEP, the decision was recently announced by Presiding Judge Anthony Fama, who stated, "The action of the accused in not immediately returning the custody of minor Ceana was premeditated, intentional and malicious, as he adamantly refused to return the custody of minor Ceana to the private complainant, through her sister, when he is legally obligated to do so."

As a result, the businessman has been ordered to pay a fine of P300, as well as nominal and moral damages amounting to P50,000 to Morales.

The case sparked after an incident in 2016, where Morales filed a kidnapping report against Lee, whom she accused of keeping their then seven-year-old daughter for nine days without her permission - which is against their prior consent to visitation rights.

Lee previously denied the allegations, and proceeded to file a libel case against Morales, although two of the cases had since been dismissed.
