The 68-year-old actor's death was confirmed by actress Vivian Velez

13 Oct - Veteran actor Dick Israel has recently passed away.

As reported on InterAksyon, news of his passing was announced by actress Vivian Velez, who wrote online, "Remembering his wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. A good heart has stopped beating, a good soul ascended to heaven. RIP Dick Israel."

Israel, or real name Ricardo Michaca, made the news back in July, after it was revealed that a fire has hit his home in Caloocan City, rendering him homeless.

Before his semi-retirement, Israel was known for his antagonistic roles in television and films. His last movie was the 2013's "Boy Golden", starring KC Concepcion and Jeorge Estregan.

He also won several awards, including the FAMAS Supporting award for "Kanto Boy 2: Anak ni Totoy Guapo".

He was 68.
