Tom Cruise's 'Top Gun 3' Is Currently in the Works at Paramount

It looks like Tom Cruise is not quite done with Top Gun. Following the success of Paramount's Top Gun: Maverick, the studio is tapping co-writer Ehren Kruger for the sequel to the action blockbuster once again.

With Kruger working on the script, Paramount is hoping director Joseph Kosinski will return to direct the third installment of the series. The third film is holding out to see the return of Cruise's young co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell. The discussions on the new script began late last year with many hurdles still left to clear.

Puck News was the first to report the sequel, which comes days after Cruise announced a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Top Gun: Maverick grossed almost $1.5 billion USD, making it Cruises' most popular film in his entire career. An action-star of our time, Cruise is currently working on the eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise.
