Tom Cruise thanks moviegoers for success of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’... by jumping out of helicopter (VIDEO)

KUALA LUMPUR, December 19 — Hollywood star Tom Cruise chose to thank moviegoers mid-air for their support for his blockbuster hit Top Gun: Maverick in theatres as he performed a free fall from thousands of feet off the ground.

Uploaded on his social media accounts, the stunning footage shared on his social media shows the 60-year-old actor next to Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 and 2 director Christopher McQuarrie, who tells him to cut to the chase as they needed to move on to filming a scene for the upcoming movies.

Cruise then gave McQuarrie a fist bump before casually dropping off for his free fall as he continues his message on camera mid-air.

"Thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick. As usual, thank you for allowing us to entertain you," he said calmly.

"It truly is the honour of a lifetime. Very lucky. I’m running out of altitude, we better get back to work, we need to get this shot.

"You have a very safe and happy holiday. We’ll see you at the movies."

On Instagram, Cruise’s footage has garnered over a million views with over 200,000 likes while on Twitter, the clip has been viewed over three million times and has been retweeted over 14,000 times by impressed followers.

Top Gun: Maverick is reported to be the highest grossing movie of 2022 where it has grossed close to US$1.5 billion (RM6.6 billion) worldwide.

Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 1 starring Cruise, is expected to hit theatres on July 14, 2023 while Part 2 is coming out on June 28, 2024.
