Taylor Swift's autographed guitar sells at children's cancer charity auction for RM561,000

KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 — Pop megastar Taylor Swift recently gave away a signed guitar to a children’s cancer charity auction that fetched a whopping RM561,480.

The singer’s guitar was sold at the 2023 OK Kids Korral auction hosted by country singer Toby Keith and friends on June 2 to 3, AsiaOne reported.

According to a press statement released on earlier in the week on Monday, Swift’s guitar was one of the top-earning items from the auction.

Among the other memorabilia sold was another guitar signed by country stars Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Garth Brooks and more which sold at RM205,876.

Other personal items from sports stars Joe Burrow, Steph Curry, and Tiger Woods were also offered.

The auction was able to raise RM8.4 million collectively to aid children fighting against the lethal disease.

Swift sold her Midnights guitar for RM58,487 last year to the Raven Drum Foundation for war veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The Bejeweled singer has also donated to food poverty charities in the cities of her Eras Tour, most recently being the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.

The undisclosed amount was given as she performed for two nights at Ford Field, Detroit in early June.

Gleaners Senior Director of Communications and Media Kristin Sokul said in a statement that Swift’s support comes at a critical time for American emergency food providers.

“Her generosity goes beyond dollars for meals. The space in her heart will empower households across Southeast Michigan to live happier, healthier lives...” Sokul said.

“The entire Gleaners team is so grateful for this incredible gift.”

Swift recently added three more dates for her Eras Tour at Singapore National Stadium, and will be performing six nights at her Singaporean stopover from March 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 in 2024.
