KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 21 — Mothers have been known for never wasting anything, whether it is money, time or food.

One Singaporean mother, Jemie Lim, demonstrated this when she drank her own breast milk, refusing to waste it during a trip to Hokkaido, Japan.

Lim, 29, decided to drink her own pumped breast milk when her hotel room fridge was unable to freeze her breastmilk.

In a TikTok video, Lim is seen drinking her own breast milk in her hotel and pumping her breasts in public spaces in Hokkaido and on her flight back to Singapore.

@jemielimtiktok I drank 4450ML of my own breastmilk in Hokkaido???? My initial plan was to store my expressed breastmilk (ebm) in hotel freezer but unexpected circumstances happened so only first day of my ebm being stored and brought back to Singapore successfully #Motherhood #Breastmilk #Travelpumping original sound - Jemielimtiktok

Lim gave birth to her daughter, Melody on September 13, 2022.

Lim who ‘doesn’t drink milk at all’ had to down four and a half litres of her own frozen milk with water to dilute its thick consistency.

She told AsiaOne that the taste of freshly pumped breast milk is slightly sweet but mostly tasteless.

Frozen milk however had a ‘very fishy’ vile taste, according to Lim.

Lim had made arrangements to store her milk in the hotel freezer, only to find on the second day that some of the first day’s batches of milk weren’t frozen.

“I kept telling myself I should dump it for the next pump. But in the end, I didn't do so because it is all my effort, my hard work,” she said.

Lim stored the frozen milk pumped in Hokkaido in zip-lock bags and was able to feed it to her daughter back in Singapore.

Many TikTok users praised Lim for her dedication to her daughter, asking her to ignore critical comments.

“Yes. it's perfectly fine and ok, stay firm and don't bother with the negative comments from people who don't understand,” one user wrote.

“Hmmm...so does this make it Hokkaido milk? It's full of nutrients. Good for the baby, good for the mommy. Nothing wasted.” another user commented.
