“Perfect Match”'s Harry Jowsey Sheds Light on His Emotional Breakdown with Jessica and What Fans Didn't See (Exclusive)

"Any moment that someone could, to try and get in Jess's head or anyone's head, they would. And I think that's what really sucked," Harry Jowsey tells PEOPLE of his connection with Jessica Vestal

Warning: this story contains spoilers from episodes 1-6 of Perfect Match season 2.

Harry Jowsey is opening up about his emotional breakdown beside Jessica Vestal on Perfect Match.

During the fifth episode of season 2, the reality star broke down in tears and had to be consoled by Jessica after becoming frustrated by the comments people on the show were making about his reputation and intentions. Things struck a particular nerve for Harry, 27, when his best friend on the show, Dom Gabriel, also accused him of not being genuine and not being there for the right reasons.

As a result, Jessica, 29, began to grow suspicious of Harry and their relationship, telling cameras, "Everyone has questioned Harry's intentions but hearing Harry's best friend make a comment like that, I'm like, no... that needs further discussion."

Speaking to PEOPLE about the moment, Harry insists there was more to the situation than what fans saw.

"I think the problem with that situation was maybe a few things that weren't necessarily put in [the show] that kind of built up that moment," he explains. "I think I was constantly fighting as soon as I got in the house. People can just take me for me instead of the version of me that they saw on Too Hot to Handle or what they see online or what they've seen from what someone else has said about me."

"So it was tough because I felt like I was there following my heart and trying to be pure and honest and open," he continues. "And then any moment that someone could, to try and get in Jess's head or anyone's head, they would. And I think that's what really sucked."

"I think it was tough for Jess to be able to hear everything from these girls who are trying to tear us apart," he adds. "But then most importantly, Dom, who I'm really close with... for him to say that, it's a little bit tough, but I guess it's just the nature of the game."

During their tense conversation before Harry's meltdown, he insisted, "I'm dating to marry and I don't care about anything else... I have nothing to defend, my friends are gonna say stupid s--- and that's just how it is. As my girl, you should just talk to me."

But Jessica wasn't fully convinced and pointed out, "Since I walked in, I barely stepped one foot in here, and people said 'Why is Harry here? You're dumb for being with him. The same thing will happen to you.'"

"After hearing it so much, eventually I'm not gonna be able to shake it off so easily," she added, reminding him that she's "human" and can only handle so much.

Harry was still distraught by their costar's comments — many of which claimed he was a "f--- boy" and not looking for a serious relationship — and told cameras, "I'm here for Jess and I want to be there for Jess... I think Jessica is the perfect match for me but for some reason, all these people just want to talk poorly about me."

Later in episode 5, he retreated to the bedroom, breaking down and crying. Jess eventually came in to console him but he told her, "I've never questioned you and I wish you'd never question me."

It wasn't until episode 6 that the two made up and came to an understanding. Jessica insisted she was "overthinking" and apologized for making him feel "less than" for his past "poor choices."

"He's worth working on things for," she told cameras.

Harry and Jessica are now paired up as they head into the next batch of episodes, but it looks like rocky waters are ahead as the full cast returns to the villa to shake things up and cause some drama.
