Joy Behar shades Alyssa Farah Griffin in “The View” discussion on Donald Trump 'enablers'

Behar pointed to Griffin and called out Chris Sununu as the cohost's "friend" amid concerns over Trump's 2024 bid.

No one is safe when Joy Behar literally points fingers at Republicans amid the potential path to Donald Trump's second presidential term.

The 81-year-old comedian and View cohost roped cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin into a Hot Topics discussion about Trump's "enablers" in the Republican party, after taking aim at GOP members who refuse to heed the warning of those "sounding the alarm that Trump would basically unravel all of the laws and democratic principles and rights in this country," she explained.

"They're scared to lose their job, and in some case there's political violence being threatened in their families. We're dealing with thuggery here. You can't trust that the Republican party will go against him if he gets the nominations. Case in point, your friend, Chris Sununu, New Hampshire governor," Behar said, pointing directly to Griffin, who reacted to the gesture with a confused laugh. "He suggested he'd vote for Trump if he was the nominee. Why? He said because [he's] a Republican, party before country. This is a guy who called Trump bleeping crazy, and said he belonged in a mental institution, and yet he'd vote for him. That is the party of the Republicans right now. They'd fall in line behind a guy that they think should be in a mental institution."

Behar's criticism seemingly stemmed from April 2022, when Sununu labeled Trump "crazy" at a Gridiron Club event, and then appeared to ignore sustained criticism he's hurled at the former president across the last year.

Griffin replied to Behar by stressing that she will never vote for Trump in 2024, and again cautioned The View audience about the dangers of electing Trump to a second term.

"I do have a theory with Sununu, who I don't speak for, but I am friends with," she clarified. "I suspect he's saying that because he'll likely be endorsing someone other than Donald Trump, but to maintain credibility with the Republican electorate, needs to say he'd vote for the Republican nominee."

Behar clapped back by asking, "How many compromises do we have to have?"

Griffin again doubled down on her warnings against Trump, noting that the country would be "careening" into dictatorship if he won the 2024 election.
