Genshin Impact developer HoYoverse announced on Friday (4 August) that they will be hosting a game art exhibition, called “Endless Adventure in Teyvat: Fontaine Edition", celebrating the release of the game’s version 4.0 update and the newest nation of Fontaine.

The exhibition will first be opened to live attendees in Paris, New York, Taipei, and Tokyo from 19 to 27 August before being made available online in 15 languages.

Fontaine is the fifth of seven nations in Genshin Impact’s fictional world of Teyvat. It is known as the Nation of Hydro and Justice, but is also a hub of culture, art, and technology.

The exhibition will let attendees get a behind-the-scenes look into how HoYoverse created the game’s latest nation, from the design philosophies to the process of crafting Fontaine’s beautiful environment and architecture as well as its colourful cast of characters and creatures.

Featured in the exhibition are over 60 concept sketches, over 30 concept art illustrations, as well as giant life-size models and miniatures of almost everyone and everything in Fontaine.

Also included are derivative works and fan art from over 40 artists and content creators, including illustrator and graphic artist Solène Debiès, sumi-e artist Yu-Ki Nishimoto, artist Yuzhi Zhou, and contemporary painter Maxence Ma.

Genshin Impact's Fontaine art exhibition will open with free admission on 19 August in Paris, New York, Taipei, and Tokyo. Here are the dates and venues for the live exhibitions:

  • 19 to 27 August in Paris at Galerie Joseph Saint Merri, 5 Rue Saint-Merri, 75004 Paris

  • 19 to 27 August in New York at Moonlight Studios, 330 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10013

  • 19 to 27 August in Taipei at No. 133, Guangfu S Rd, Xinyi District, Taipei City

  • 19 to 27 August in Tokyo at 1-chōme-11-6 JingūmaeShibuya City, Tokyo 150-0001

While admission to the exhibition will be free, attendees are encouraged to pre-register here for easy and convenient entry.

HoYoverse will also announce the details of the exhibition’s online release in 15 languages at a later date.

The official announcement of the Fontaine art exhibition confirms earlier suspicions from fans of a huge worldwide event related to the release of Fontaine following cryptic posts on the official Genshin Impact social media accounts.

The cryptic posts were put up on Thursday (3 August) and contained a random mishmash of letters, which had some fans thinking the accounts were hacked or had erroneously posted.

However, some were able to deduce that the posts were actually cyphers which, when when decoded, read “eightonenine PARIS NYC TOKYO TAIPEI”. From this, fans were able to surmise that HoYoverse will be hosting real-life events in Paris, New York City, Tokyo, and Taipei on 19 August.

Genshin Impact’s Fontaine art exhibition will take place shortly after the release of version 4.0 and Fontaine on 16 August.

Aside from adding a whole new region to the game, version 4.0 will also release three new playable characters, new bosses and enemies, a new underwater exploration mechanic, new weapons and Artifacts, and tons of other content.

Genshin Impact version 4.0 will be released on 16 August. But while we wait for Fontaine, the game is still in version 3.8, which features a new summer event as well as reruns for Eula, Klee, the Wanderer, and Kokomi.
