Brad Goreski is beloved for his humor but he isn't the only funny one in his relationship — his husband, Gary Janetti, is famous for making people laugh.

Janetti, a native of Queens, New York, has made a career of writing jokes. He started out as a TV writer, working on shows like Family Guy and Will & Grace, before expanding his resumé as an author of humorous essay collections and, perhaps most notably, author of hilarious Instagram captions.

The writer has racked up nearly 960,000 followers on Instagram with satirical captions imagining the inner monologue of young Prince George, son of Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton. His sense of humor even led him to create his own TV show based on the caricatures he created: animated comedy The Prince, which was released on HBO Max in 2021.

Goreski and Janetti have been together for more than 20 years, and they’ve been married since 2017.

So, who is Brad Goreski's husband? Here's everything to know about Gary Janetti and his relationship with the fashion stylist.

Gary Janetti has been writing for TV since 1995, starting on sitcoms like The Naked Truth and Style & Substance before moving onto writing for Family Guy in 1999. Janetti became more recognized for his work on Will & Grace in the early 2000s, a show on which he served as a showrunner, writer and producer.

In 2013, Janetti co-created and wrote for the British sitcom series Vicious, starring Sir Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi.

He spoke to Fast Company about how Vicious came about in 2014, saying: “I’ve always been a bit of an Anglophile. I grew up watching British comedies. I loved Monty Python and Fawlty Towers and Are You Being Served? which showed on PBS. I always thought it would be interesting to do something there, or take a format from there and bring it over here.”

Janetti added that the show was initially supposed to be American. But when the British version of the show never came to fruition, Janetti took the reins and created the British version himself, nixing the proposed American adaptation.

In 2021, Janetti created and wrote another British comedy, albeit a quite different one: The Prince, a satirical animated comedy series about Prince George. The HBO Max show was based on Janetti’s viral caricatures of the royal family member, where he imagined an inner monologue for the young prince. Janetti also voiced Prince George for the series.

Janetti is the author of three personal essay collections.

In October 2019, Janetti released his first book of essays, Do You Mind If I Cancel? He described the collection as “essays from my childhood and young adulthood about things that still annoy me."

Janetti spoke to PEOPLE about the differences between writing personal essays and writing for TV, saying: “It was the first time I was writing personally about myself, as opposed to writing through a character ... You have a bit of a distance — you’re protected by the [characters] When it’s just you, there’s a lot more vulnerability there."

Do You Mind If I Cancel? became an instant New York Times best seller.

In April 2022, Janetti published his second book, Start Without Me: (I'll Be There in a Minute).

"It's about all the things I learned and didn't learn and that still bother me," Janetti told EW about the book. "Most everything was wonderful. It was only tiny, little things."

Janetti's third book, We Are Experiencing a Slight Delay, was published in July 2024. He dedicated the collection of travel essays to Goreski.

He’s Instagram-famous for his jokes and memes

Janetti is known for his writing, but not just for books and TV shows. In fact, his Instagram captions might be his most famous writing of all and it started in 2017. The satirical message involved Prince George shaking hands with his teacher on his first day of school, accompanied by dad Prince William.

“I just happened to see them online, and I thought [Prince George] was so expressive; the pictures themselves made me laugh because of how expressive he was,” Janetti said of how he started, speaking to PEOPLE in 2019.

“And I thought, ‘Oh, he’d be fun to write a caption for.’ And I did. And that was the start of it. Then it just kept evolving from there,” he continued.

Janetti’s humorous approach to the royal family led to him creating an animated HBO Max comedy series based on them in 2021, called The Prince.

His Instagram account is more than just royal memes, though — he’s also known for witty one-liners and universal musings that he posts as text on a white background.

“Most of the stress in my life comes from people telling me about a TV show I need to watch,” reads an Instagram post.

Goreski and Janetti got married after 16 years together on Dec. 26, 2017. The wedding was an intimate ceremony aboard the luxury cruise ship, Seabourn Sojourn, officiated by the ship’s captain after setting sail in the Caribbean.

The couple’s cruise ship setting made sense, considering Janetti’s history as a cruise ship passenger: his father has worked as a salesman for the Cunard Cruise Line since he was a child. Janetti wrote about his cruise trip experiences and the pen pals he gained on them in his second book, Start Without Me.

The stylish couple both wore custom suits, designed by Isaiah and exchanged custom wedding rings designed by jeweler David Yurman.

“Having our families celebrate with us in such a beautiful surrounding was everything we wanted it to be," Goreski told PEOPLE back in 2017.

They’ve been together for over 20 years

Goreski and Janetti met when both were staying in Athens, Greece, in 2001. Goreski shared a throwback to their earliest days together a few days after their 13th anniversary in 2014.

“Gary and I in Athens, Greece when we first met. Can you believe this was 13 years ago?!” he wrote.

A month later, in August 2014, the couple were on vacation in Greece again. “Back to where it all began! Having the best in Mykonos with @garyjanetti,” he captioned a photo of himself and Janetti wearing shorts and sandals with a scenic background.

The couple celebrated their 22nd anniversary on July 2, 2023. “We three Queens. Happy 22nd anniversary, Brad. Thanks for being so easy to tolerate,” Janetti wrote alongside a photo of himself and Goreski in front of a Queen Mary cruise ship in London.

Goreski marked the momentous occasion on their London trip, too. “What’s the tea? Today is our 22nd anniversary! Love you @garyjanetti ❤️,” he captioned a photo of him and Janetti holding up teacups.

On how to keep things new and exciting after 20 years together, Janetti shared some joke wisdom with PEOPLE: “That’s my advice after you’ve been together almost 20 years: Write a book about your life, and that’s how you’ll learn new things about each other.”

Janetti said that when Goreski read an early copy of his first book, “he was finding things out about me that perhaps he hadn’t known previously, and I think that that was kind of neat.”
