KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 21 — Datuk Armand Azha Abu Hanifah said he has been called to appear before the Umno disciplinary board this Thursday to answer to some “complaints” filed against him.

But the Umno supreme council member claimed not to know what he could have done wrong, adding that he was also not given details, Utusan Malaysia reported today.

“In this matter, we have to look at the views of all parties, whether the disciplinary board or myself. But I don’t even know why they are called.

“However, I am ready to provide explanations regarding all matters involving my name,” he was quoted as saying.

He also said he will hold a press conference after meeting the disciplinary board at the Umno headquarters at Menara Dato’ Onn here.

Armand Azha is one of two Umno members who has announced his intention to contest the Umno Youth chief post; the other is incumbent party Youth secretary Datuk Hasmuni Hassan.

But he will not be able to contest if he is suspended or sacked.

Incumbent Umno Youth chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki has said he will not be defending his post this time around.

The Umno elections are scheduled to take place from February 1 to March 18 starting with the party branches.

The three wings — Women, Youth and Puteri — will hold their elections on March 11 and the main national body, including the supreme council, will hold its polls on March 18.

Last January, the Umno general assembly passed a motion that the top two post will not be contested before firing and suspending several leaders who openly spoke against it including Asyraf’s predecessor Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.
