KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 — It was billed as ‘the great war’ and it was indeed for Swifties, fans of American popstar Taylor Swift in the rush for tickets for the singer’s Eras Tour Singapore stopover.

Despite online queues with over a million in line to technical error, Swift’s six-shows in March 2024 were completely sold out by the end of the day.

The chaos began as people began queuing at numerous Singapore Post outlets, rushing to be the first in line to buy the tickets, The Straits Times reported.

Due to issues with Ticketmaster, resulting delays saw diehard fans who had queued overnight take to social media to vent.

Ticket sales online were also mired when many joined the online queue despite not having the required access code for purchasing.

Checks by Malay Mail, revealed ticket buyers in queue online numbering over a million in mere minutes.

Access codes were sent to lucky fans who had registered earlier for the general sales.

Many however chose to queue without having pre-registered or received codes, begging for anyone to share them as their turn neared.

Travel platform Klook meanwhile claimed that over 600,000 customers in the region had waited in line to purchase their experience packages.

The pricey experience packages which included both concert tickets and accommodations were later revealed to be snapped up most by fans from the Philippines, followed by Singapore, Indonesia, China and Malaysia.

As scalpers took to online, many reported Ticketmaster was taking action against resellers by banning their accounts, making their tickets ineligible.

Swift will be performing six nights at the National Stadium from March 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, 2024 to over 300,000 expected concertgoers each night.
