KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 6 — Local pollster Endeavor-MGC (EMGC) has found that 73 per cent from marginal state seats in Selangor were satisfied with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s overall performance as prime minister.

Of the respondents, 52 per cent have expressed that the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman is the most suitable candidate for prime minister, while 26 per cent said they were not satisfied while one per cent said they were unsure.

For comparison, just 18 per cent of respondents chose Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as their choice of a prime minister.

This was followed by convicted former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak (6 per cent), PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (6 per cent), and former health minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar got three per cent.

Registered voters in six states — Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang — will cast their ballot papers on August 12 to elect new state governments in the respective states.

In Selangor, majority of the seats will see a straight fight between PH and PN.

The survey involved 1,068 respondents from marginal seats in Selangor.

Last month, a survey by Selangor government-linked think-tank Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE) found that 73.4 per cent of respondents in Selangor viewed Anwar’s leadership positively, with 26.3 per cent expressing belief in his ability to steer the country towards excellence.
