KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — South Korean actor-singer Lee Seung-gi has chosen to give away 18 years worth of unpaid earnings from his former agency for a good cause.

The 35-year-old will donate the RM16 million given by his former agency, Hook Entertainment, to charity organisations.

In an Instagram post yesterday (December 16), the Master In The House star shared how he plans to use the compensation.

“The reason why I filed a lawsuit against Hook is not because of the unpaid earnings,” Lee clarified in his post.

“Someone’s hard work and sweat should not be misused by someone else’s greed. I thought that fulfilling this mission is the best I can do.”

According to Lee, he will continue to fight Hook Entertainment in court and apologised to the public for ‘the fatigue it will occur to those watching’.

Next week, the actor will meet with various charity representatives to decide how he will donate to those in need.

“5 billion won might not be enough to help all of those people, but I will take action beginning with a small step forward,” he added.

“If this money can be used for those who are more in need than me, the happiness and value I feel will exceed that of just ₩5 billion won.”

Lee left Hook Entertainment on December 1 following a dispute regarding payment records over the singer's digital streams of his songs.

The agency alleged it had paid Lee what he was owed in 2021, but the singer refuted the claims.

Finally, Hook Entertainment CEO Kwon Jin-young released a statement saying she would ‘be fully responsible for the dispute’, claiming she would use her own personal funds to resolve the issue.
