KUALA LUMPUR, May 11 — After being in cold storage for two years, Lucas of Kpop band NCT and WayV is leaving the groups to pursue solo activities.

In a statement on Wednesday, SM Entertainment said the decision was reached out of respect for other group members and the fans.

“Thus, we ask for the understanding of all fans who have supported Lucas as a member of NCT and WayV,” added the agency which handles the groups.

In August 2021, Lucas was accused by his ex-girlfriends of cheating, gaslighting and even leeching money off of them

This prompted SM Entertainment to cancel all his scheduled content.

In a separate statement issued via his social media, Lucas, or his real name Wong Yuk-hei, apologised for leaving the groups, which he had been a part of for eight years.

The 24-year-old said it took him considerable time to reach this decision and believed it was a right one for the good of all.

“Moving forward, I intend to muster the courage to face the fans who have been waiting for me and to pursue individual endeavours,” he said, adding that it was the best way to repay the fans who supported him.
