Seven, ‘The Walking Dead’ Dog, Dies; Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, More Pay Tribute

The Walking Dead cast members are mourning the loss of Seven, the beloved Belgian Malinois who starred as Daryl Dixon’s loyal canine companion on the series.

Norman Reedus, who played Dixon on the post-apocalyptic drama, posted photos of himself on his Instagram Stories, with Seven. “Gonna miss u seven,” Reedus wrote alongside a broken heart emoji, adding “Best TV buddy ever.

On X (fka Twitter), the show posted a photo of Melissa McBride (Carol) with Seven, along with the caption “All dogs go to heaven. Rest in peace, Seven.” Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) replied to the show’s announcement on X with three heart emojis.

Angela Kang, who served as showrunner on the series’ final three seasons, shared the announcement from the show’s official account on her Instagram stories, adding “RIP Seven,” next to a crying face emoji.

Other TWD cast members Lynn Collins, who played Leah, Khary Payton (Ezekiel) and Sabrina Gennarino (Tamiel) also expressed their condolences in comments.

Seven joined The Walking Dead in the seventh episode of Season 9, and went on to appear in over 20 episodes, including the 2022 series finale.
