Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Selling $12 Million New York Home After Kids 'Left the Nest'

"It seems like the right time to sell,” Zeta-Jones told 'The Wall Street Journal' of their new phase of life

New empty nesters Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones are ready to say goodbye to their New York home.

The Ant-Man actor, 79, and Wednesday actress, 54, have listed their 11,653 square-foot riverfront estate located in Irvington, New York with an asking price of $12 million.

Zeta-Jones bought the home, dubbed Longmeadow, in 2019 for $4.5 million, according to public records.

In a statement shared with The Wall Street Journal, the actress said, “When I purchased our Irvington home I knew our family would share many happy times here, and we have!"

“Now that both our son and daughter have left the nest it seems like the right time to sell,” she added.

The longtime couple — who share two children, son Dylan, 23, and daughter Carys, 21 — also plan to spend more time abroad, as Zeta-Jones has work commitments overseas, she told the Journal.

"Michael and I plan to spend more time in Bermuda and Europe,” she said in her statement to the outlet.

The pair listed the colonial-style home on June 17 with Compass's David Turner, who describes it as "a spectacular property” and “true Hudson River estate.”

“The owner has done a masterful job in renovating the house in a cool, comfortable and modern aesthetic that preserves its original grandeur and integrity,” the real estate agent added.

Located approximately 20 miles away from Manhattan, the four-story estate is nestled on a 12-acre property in Irvington's Matthiessen Park

As Turner pointed out, Douglas and Zeta-Jones have restored each room in the charming brick home, including its twelve bathrooms and eight en-suite bedrooms .

Highlights of the home include a formal living room with a fireplace, a salon with a built-in bar and a wood-paneled study with a fireplace and stunning, two-story library.

Before Zeta-Jones and Douglas moved to Irvington, the pair shared a home in the nearby town of Bedford, New York, according toThe Wall Street Journal. Zeta-Jones bought the former residence for $11.25 million in 2014 and sold it for $20.5 million.

The outlet also reported that Douglas previously listed the couple’s Manhattan residence on Central Park West for $21.5 million several years ago, but he has since taken it off the market.
