KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 18 — PAS might nominate former minister Khairy Jamaluddin as a state election candidate, according to its deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

But he added that Khairy has yet to make any application to the Islamist party, Sinar Harian reported today.

“PAS and Perikatan Nasional also welcome members from other political parties who have dissenting views with their party's stand,” Tuan Ibrahim was quoted as saying in Kota Baru, Kelantan yesterday.

He added that PAS is ready to welcome the former Rembau MP if the latter wishes to become its member.

Khairy was sacked from Umno on January 27, purportedly for going against the party line.

He has said Umno is always in his heart but has declined to appeal against his expulsion.

Last week, he was reported to be considering running in the coming Selangor state election and speculated to be eyeing the menteri besar post, which he has not denied so far.

Khairy has since become a radio presenter for the Hot FM breakfast programme and been appointed Johor youth adviser as well as a director in the Johor state football club.
