All the Photos of Tara Lipinski's Newborn Daughter Georgie and Her Sweet Nursery (Exclusive)
After documenting her fertility struggles, the Olympic champion welcomed her daughter by surrogate this fall
"It just feels unbelievable," Tara Lipinski says of holding her baby girl Georgie, whom she and husband Todd Kapostasy welcomed by surrogate this fall after five years of fertility struggles.
"To know what we've been through to get to this point, it was definitely emotional and just surreal. It just goes back to pinching yourself after five years — this is actually our life," the figure skater adds.
In this week's PEOPLE, the Olympic gold medalist and her husband open up about their new arrival, their decision to be so open with their journey and their bond with their surrogate.
Here, see all of the sweet photos from PEOPLE's exclusive shoot, and read more with Lipinski in the latest issue of PEOPLE, on newsstands Friday.
Mom Mode
"I dreamt about this for so long," Lipinski shares of motherhood. "A crying baby, sleepless nights. Even when I'm like, 'Okay, take an hour nap,' I'm almost too excited. I'm like, 'She's there. Just watch her a little longer.' "

Pretty in Pink
Georgie "came out all pink and screaming, which made Mommy very happy
because I just was so excited to hear that scream," Lipinski remembers of the baby's birth day.
Proud Parents
"When I see her as a mom, it's just so awesome and amazing," says Kapostasy.
Adds Lipinski, "We laugh about who's going to be the strict one ... I feel like I'm going to be the easygoing one."
About the Journey
Looking back on her long and difficult road to motherhood, Lipinski says, "I am proud that I got through it. It wasn't always pretty and I had to do it my own way. And sometimes I thought I was really failing at it all."
She continues, "I would look back and tell myself, just be kind to yourself. The feelings you're feeling are okay, and whatever happens, you'll be okay."
Looking Up
Mom and daughter share a sweet moment of connection.
