JOHOR BARU, May 30 — A 41-year-old former beauty queen claimed she was being sexually harassed by strangers after an acquaintance made an online video indicating she was for sale.

Lee Guan Yoke, a tour guide, said she met a man named Lee Fook Soon on May 17, who later posted a Facebook Live video touting her to a group of foreigners.

“All of a sudden I received hundreds of messages and phone calls that were sexual in nature. This included messages received through my social media,” said Lee at a media conference held at the Johor MCA state liaison committee office here today.

Lee, a single parent, said the situation was causing emotional distress to her and her family, as well as interfering with her career.

Lee said she has lodged two police reports on the matter, the first at the Taman Universiti police station on May 18 and another at the Ulu Tiram police station on May 21.

Johor MCA Public Complaints Bureau Committee member Joan Ng Geok Yin said they will refer Lee’s case with the relevant government agencies for assistance.

Ng said they contacted the acquaintance, Fook Soon, who admitted to posting the video but claimed it was a joke.

“However, his actions have clearly caused distress to the victim’s life,” she said, adding that the video remained online.
