KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — The automobile industry has been going through another round of evolution as hybridisation and electrification of cars become the way forward.

Luxury Italian sports car manufacturer, Lamborghini, is no exception.

The brand unveiled its first super sports V12 hybrid high-performance electrified vehicle, called Revuelto, in Malaysia on Friday (September 1).

The new model marks just the beginning of the brand’s evolution to becoming a manufacturer of fully-electric Lamborghini cars by 2028.

Revuelto is designed to impress with its iconic V12 engine that’s coupled with innovative hybrid technology.

What’s important is that Lamborghini enthusiasts shouldn’t worry much about the personalities and emotions of the car which comes with loud noise and power.

The brand has assured that the roaring sound and classic emotions of the typical V12 engine have been maintained in the hybrid version.

Here’s a low-down of what you can expect from the newly-released Revuelto:

Design

With the Revuelto launch, Lamborghini unveiled a new Space Race design concept that aims to adapt to the challenges imposed by electrification.

The design is inspired by aerospace elements that blend with the car’s design DNA which embodies animalistic muscularity from its shark-nose sections to the side fins located behind the front wheel arches that channel the airflow along the sides.

The roof in this model combines more headroom and includes aerodynamic functions.

The rear, however, is a tribute to the hybrid V12 with a fully exposed longitudinal engine.

The racing-inspired steering wheel comes with buttons to activate the turn signals and the launch control while allowing the driver to maintain an optimal grip at all times.

Personalisation

Customisation is a big part of the Lamborghini experience for its customers.

Revuelto offers 400 bodywork colours with many other personalisation options at the client’s disposal to allow the creation of an entirely personal super sports car.

The customers can also customise the interior of the car by opting for a balanced mix of leather and the ultralight Corsa-Tex fabric with 70 colour options or favour one material depending on their preference.

Aerodynamic performance

All the design elements in the model were engineered to optimise airflow for maximum performance.

The design includes a new active rear wing to ensure the best aerodynamic performance in all driving conditions.

The position of the wing changes according to the driving mode and dynamics, or it can be changed manually by the driver using the dedicated rotor on the steering wheel.

Powertrain and layout

The car’s 6.5-litre V12 mid-mounted engine is complemented by three electric motors, one of which is integrated into the new double-clutch eight-speed gearbox.

With a top speed of 350km per hour, the electric motors boost power delivery at low revs and can also turn the new Revuelto into an electric car, reducing overall CO2 emissions by 30 per cent when compared to the Aventador Ultimae.

The car is also equipped with a lithium-ion high-specific power battery pack with a capacity of 4,500 w/kg situated within the central tunnel, keeping the centre of gravity as low as possible and ensuring optimal weight distribution.

When the charge level is flat, the car can be recharged using both ordinary domestic alternating and charging column current up to 7kw in power.

The car fully recharges in just 30 minutes.

Infotainment

Revuelto offers an entirely new human-machine interface system consisting of three displays, namely a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch central display and a 9.1-inch additional display that comes with fresh look and feel, 3D graphics, animations, widgets and styling.

The infotainment system offers new functions to allow personalisation to create an immersive driving experience.
