KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 — Controversial local celebrity Azwan Ali has decided against contesting the Gombak parliamentary seat in the 15th general elections (GE15) against his brother, incumbent MP Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

“I dreamt about my mum and she told me not to contest, and there were other reasons why I didn’t contest,” the flamboyant television personality said, according to a post on BFM News’ Twitter account.

He had arrived at the Gombak nomination centre, SMK Sungai Pusu, riding pillion on a red Ducati Multistrada this morning, showed a video from KiniTV’s YouTube channel.

“The diva does not care about who the other candidates are,” he said, giving an interview to reporters while still seated on the motorcycle.

However, according to Utusan Malaysia, Azwan was now backing Pakatan Harapan’s candidate Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Last night, he told Malaysiakini that he would contest against Azmin, and that Azmin will be “buried” in GE15.
