BMW i4 eDrive35: Malaysia’s cheapest fully electric sedan with 282hp and 483km range, priced from RM258,000

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 3 — BMW Malaysia has introduced its new BMW i4 eDrive35 lineup and this is the cheapest 4-door sedan EV in Malaysia right now. The i4 eDrive35 is essentially the base model of the BMW i4 series which is currently offered from RM399,800 and it also poses a serious challenge to the recently announced Hyundai Ioniq 6 that starts from RM289,888.

BMW i4 eDrive35 Malaysia Pricing

The BMW i4 eDrive35 is now available in Malaysia and here’s the on-the-road (OTR) retail price without insurance:

• BMW i4 eDrive35 – RM258,210

• BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport – RM284,210

If you want the extended warranty and service package (BSRI), here’s the pricing:

• BMW i4 eDrive35 – RM273,800

• BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport – RM299,800

According to BMW Malaysia, you can own the BMW i4 eDrive35 from RM3,358/month or the BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport from RM3,657/month with their Easy Drive Financing Plan. This is based on a 5-year Easy Drive plan with a mileage of 100,000km at 80% loan amount. On top of that, buyers can also benefit from a RM8,000 Easy Drive Cash Rebate upon registering for the Easy Drive Financing.

BMW i4 eDrive35

The BMW i4 eDrive35 gets a single electric motor driving the rear wheels with 210kW (282hp) and 400Nm of torque, and it can get from 0-100km/h in 6 seconds and has a top speed of 190km/h. The eDrive35 has a smaller 70.2kWh battery with a WLTP-rated range of up to 483km on a single charge. That’s lower than the Ioniq 6 RWD which has a WLTP-rated range of up to 614km and the eDrive40 which does up to 590km.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 supports AC charging up to 11kW and DC fast charging up to 180kW. That’s slightly lower than the BMW i4 eDrive40 which supports DC fast charging up to 200kW. For the eDrive40, it takes 31 minutes to charge from 10-80% with a 200kW DC charger or over 8 hours when charged via an AC Wallbox.

The BMW i4 eDrive35 also boasts an efficient low cd drag coefficient of 0.24 and it shares similar dimensions as the more expensive eDrive40. It has a 2,856mm wheelbase and it measures 1,852mm in width, 4,783mm in length and 1,448mm in height. It has a 470-litre boot which can be expanded to 1,290 litres with the seats folded. The eDrive35 rides on 18″ double-spoke light alloy wheels in 853 bicolour and the body colour is available in Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Sanremo Green, Skyscraper Grey and Aventurine Red.

BMW i4 eDrive35 M Sport

If you want something more sporty, there’s the eDrive35 M Sport which rides on 18″ M aerodynamic wheels with 858 M Bicolour mixed tyres. The mechanical bits of the vehicle including the motor and batteries are identical to the standard version. The M Sport variant also gets an Aluminium Rhombicle Anthracite M interior trim.

Besides the other regular colour options, the i4 eDrive35 M Sport is offered in additional exclusive colours such as M Portimao Blue and M Brooklyn Grey. The interior is offered in the same options such as Sensatec Porfarated Black, Sensatec Perforated Cognac and Sensatec Perforated Tacora Red.
