Climate change poses new dangers

Rising temperatures and sea levels

are expected to impact their habitat

(SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) SURABAYA ZOO AND KOMODO DRAGON NURSERY KEEPER, RUKIN SAYING:

"The number of Komodo dragons in the Surabaya zoo is getting larger (which may lead to an overpopulation in the zoo). We hope that the ones that are adults and big enough can be released into the wild on the Komodo Island."

The zoo is home to 108 adults

and 35 young ones

They hope the project will

ensure future generations

see the dragons in real life

in the wild
