Zendaya has revealed that she was so afraid of peeing or pooping herself while filming Dune: Part Two that she suffered a heatstroke.

The Emmy award-winning actress, 28, explained in a recent W Magazine cover story that she limited her consumption of water while shooting Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic because her character Chani’s costume was difficult to take off and the bathrooms were located a good distance away from the desert set.

"We were in Jordan. It was very hot, and I remember thinking, 'Oh, man, the bathrooms are so far away,' because we had to hike to the locations," said Zendaya. "If you have to pee, you need at least 10 minutes to get out of the costumes. I was like, 'Damn, I don't want to drink too much water.' I had such a fear of peeing myself or s---ting myself, honestly, in the suit on set."

Chani sports a stillsuit throughout 2021's Dune and its 2024 sequel. While the gear is a necessity for those living on the desert planet of Arrakis to preserve their body’s moisture, Zendaya revealed that the difficult process of removing the suit actually put her off drinking water and once led her to experience a health scare on set.

"One day, I didn't drink enough and I had a heatstroke. I felt so barfy," she confessed. "I remember calling my mom on the bathroom floor, saying, 'I feel terrible.' She was like, 'Did you drink water today?' I said 'No.' I thought I was being smart, but you can't do that. So, lesson learned."

According to The Mayo Clinic, heatstroke occurs when the body is exposed "to high temperatures or physical activity in high temperatures for too long," causing a range of symptoms that can include confusion, nausea, flushed skin, rapid breathing, headache, and increased heart rate. Emergency medical care is needed to treat the condition.

This isn't the first time Zendaya has suffered some pretty serious side effects due to her Dune wardrobe. Last year, she told Vogue that she became "lightheaded" the first time she tried on the vintage Thierry Mugler armor that she wore to Dune: Part Two’s premiere in London.

"The metal conducts and holds onto heat very quickly and kind of traps heat in," she explained at the time. "I’m wearing a complete bodysuit, so there's a barrier, so you already have a layer of material kind of on your skin."

She continued, "As the days were coming up, I was like, 'This is a bad idea. Like why did I do this?' But I put it on, I went out there, and I did it."
