Euphoria season two was stopped in its tracks by the coronavirus outbreak, with work shutting down "two days before" shooting was scheduled to begin. It's a "bummer", Zendaya admits, but there may be some good news on the horizon.
Because Zendaya, who plays Rue Bennett in the gritty high school drama, has hinted that "a little bridge episode" may be filmed to satisfy fans ahead of Euphoria's inevitable delay.
Speaking to Ben Platt on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Zendaya revealed just how late in the day Euphoria was put on hold, explaining that the cast and crew had already done "table reads and wardrobe fittings" before filming on the upcoming season was cancelled.
"We're trying to figure out how to eventually be able to create a season two that we're all really proud of, and get all the best out of it that we want but also still being very safe," the actress added, before teasing the potential of a filler episode.
"We might end up doing, like, a little bridge episode," Zendaya explained. "I don't really know how to describe it, but an episode that we can do with a limited amount of people in a safer environment that can, I don't know, give people something."
We'll take it.
Zendaya's latest comments come after the actress promised fans that a "beautiful second season" has already been written and is just waiting to be made.
Speaking earlier this month, she said: "In order to do [season two] the way we want to do it, we need to wait until it's safer. There is an idea to do a couple of bridge episodes that can be shot safely but aren't necessarily part of season two."
Euphoria airs on HBO in the US and on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK.
