Zelenskyy and Austin tackle defense strategies at Singapore summit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin in Singapore on June 2, according to a report on Telegram by the Ukrainian leader.

The meeting occurred on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual Asian Security Summit focused on Pacific region issues.

During their discussion, the leaders addressed Ukraine's immediate defense needs, enhancement of its air defense systems, collaboration within the F-16 coalition, and the drafting of a new bilateral security agreement.

"I thank President Biden for making an important decision on defensive strikes with American weapons on enemy territory to effectively counter Russian attempts to expand the combat zone," stated President Zelenskyy.

President Zelenskyy arrived in Singapore on June 1 to participate in the Shangri-La Dialogue, underscoring the global dimension of Ukraine’s ongoing security challenges.
