Zaki Yamani on being reprimanded by the Prime Minister: It wasn't me!

4 Jul – "It wasn't me," is what Zaki Yamani is saying, after many thought it was him that was reprimanded by Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Twitter, including his own dad Jamal Abdillah.

The young star recently took to social media to sort things out, saying that the tweet from the Prime Minister was not directed at him but at a different person that shares his name.

"Please don't ask me again. I didn't do anything wrong," he added.

The tweet, which the Prime Minister tweeted on 2 July, read, "I condemn and regret the mean tweet by Zaki Yamani and demand him to apologise as soon as possible."

Zaki also shared a series of text messages sent by his legendary singer father, who reminded him not to make any political statement, and captioned it, "You think it was me too, dad?"

Jamal, when contacted, later revealed that the Zaki Yamani that the Prime Minister addressed was a former assistant of a political secretary, who tweeted mean words about Tun Dr. Mahathir and PAS leader Abdul Hadi Awang, the latter who was hospitalised recently.

It is noted that Zaki previously performed a duet with the Prime Minister at an event in Terengganu.
