Zac Brown and his estranged wife, Kelly Yazdi, have had a turbulent relationship.

The “Chicken Fried” singer and Yazdi enjoyed a year-long engagement before marrying in August 2023. However, just four months later, in December 2023, Brown announced the pair were divorcing.

The former couple and co-workers — Yazdi worked for the Zac Brown Band for two years — mainly kept their relationship private until Yazdi posted on Instagram in May 2024, seemingly accusing Brown of “narcissistic abuse.” Brown responded by filing a temporary restraining order, which, if granted, would force her to take down the post.

"No one — not even Zac Brown with all of his money, power, celebrity, and lawyers – may silence my right to freely express myself through art or, although I have to date declined to do so publicly, to speak about the circumstances of our pending divorce," Yazdi wrote on Instagram in response a few days later.

So who is Zac Brown’s estranged wife? Here’s everything to know about Kelly Yazdi and her relationship with the country star.

She is a model and actress

Yazdi has held a number of titles throughout her career, but she mainly works as a model and actor. She has a few acting credits, including a 2018 guest spot on Hawaii Five-0 and in the 2015 film The Martial Arts Kid.

Yazdi has also modeled for various brands, including a partnership with Carhartt and Polaris Inc, per her website.

She is a motorcycle enthusiast

One of Yazdi’s passions is riding motorcycles, leading her to create her own company, Ride Wild. The brand is a community for women power sport riders to come together “on the foundation of tribe, adventure, and purpose,” she wrote on her website.

Yazdi's passion for riding motorcycles came from a lifelong love for speed, from horseback riding to dirt biking, she told The Red Bull Bulletin in August 2018. She turned her hobby into her career when she began to use her modeling connections to build a platform for women motorcyclists.

“I felt there was something bigger than just being a model,” Yazdi told the outlet. “Like why not be a role model? Why not help build something?”

In 2017, she took her passion one step further and founded The Wild Gypsy Tour, the first-ever all-women’s motorcycle festival.

“When you get women involved, more men get involved. It spreads like this beautiful ripple effect,” Yazdi told Nylon in 2017. “Then you’re supporting families. You’re supporting mothers, daughters, and sisters. Women are the secret sauce to life — to everything.”

She worked for the Zac Brown Band

While it is unclear exactly what role Yazdi had in Brown’s brand, the Zac Brown Collective, Inc., she worked there from August 2022 to February 2024. In July 2022, Yazdi accompanied Brown on tour, appearing in a video from the Zac Brown Band wishing the singer a happy birthday.

Though the former couple kept their relationship private, sources confirmed to PEOPLE in December 2022 that they got engaged earlier that year.

"He proposed in Hawaii a while ago," one source said. "It was very intimate and the couple has kept it very private."

Yazdi and Brown quietly tied the knot on Aug. 31, 2023, in Coweta County, Georgia, per TMZ. However, four months later, they announced their divorce in a joint statement.

"We are in the process of divorce,” the pair told TMZ. “Our mutual respect for one another remains. We wish each other the best and will always appreciate our time together. As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”

Fans speculated the two had split after Yazdi deactivated her Instagram and rejoined the social media platform leaving out Brown’s last name from her bio. She also wiped her account of photos of the two.

After Yazdi published a number of Instagram posts, in which she allegedly accused Brown of “narcissistic abuse,” in May 2024, Brown filed a temporary restraining order against her.

The country singer alleged that Yazdi violated an employee and confidentiality agreement from August 2022.

"After much deliberation, I took the steps necessary to enforce an agreement between us to maintain personal and business affairs in confidence and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation," Brown told PEOPLE in a statement. "My only hope is for us to keep private matters private and to move forward with the mutual respect we had agreed to show one another when we parted ways."

If granted, Yazdi would be forced to remove her Instagram posts, which seem to be referring to a May 4 post in which she referred to a toxic relationship, though she didn’t name the person, simply referring to them as “he.”

She alleged that her partner told her “don’t model anymore” and that he didn’t “want to be with the kind of woman who has to show off her body for attention.”

“His betrayal forced her down a road through hell and brutal heartbreak, and the terrifying reality of narcissistic abuse,” she wrote in the caption. “The scary truth that patiently waited to unmask itself only after vows were made.”

Court documents filed by Brown’s attornies say that Yazdi "has taken it upon herself to exact revenge upon Mr. Brown" and his company, and also ask her not to "[make] any public statement or disclosing any confidential or private information in violation of the terms of Ms. Yazdi's Employee and Confidentiality Agreements."

Yazdi responded shortly after with a lengthy post on Instagram, sharing that she would not be “silenced.”

"I intend to respond swiftly and robustly to his meritless complaint that publication of two poems on my personal social media account divulged any ‘confidential information’ about his business, much less authorizes a court to enjoin me from speaking about matters in my personal life that have nothing to do with my brief former work for the Zac Brown Collective, Inc,” she wrote.
