Yukon's Environment minister has been released from hospital in Vancouver, according to a spokesperson for the territorial government.

Nils Clarke was hospitalized after a crash south of Whitehorse earlier this month.

Clarke has returned to Whitehorse to continue his recovery, cabinet communications spokesperson Jordan Owens said in an email.

Clarke was medevaced to Vancouver after a highway crash on Aug. 2, while leaving a salmon celebration at McClintock Bay Resort with the then deputy minister Michael Prochazka.

Their truck was hit by another vehicle on the highway and Prochazka was killed in the accident.

In a statement issued last week, Premier Ranj Pillai said Clarke was hopeful for a full recovery.

Pillai also said that Clarke and his family were grateful to the community for their well wishes.

The Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources John Streicker and Minister of Community Services Richard Mostyn are covering Clarke's cabinet portfolios while he recovers.

Briar Young was appointed interim deputy minister of environment last Thursday.
