Yuki Kashiwagi takes social media hiatus for health's sake

24 Jun – After announcing her temporary hiatus from work to undergo surgery for her rare spinal cord condition, AKB48's Yuki Kashiwagi announces that she is taking her time off social media as well.

According to Abema Times, the singer shared the news of her decision on Twitter on 22 June, writing, "Twitter will be closed for a while, while I get treatment for my disorder! This is the first time I will be admitted for surgery, I am feeling the anxiety and feel like crying every day."

"I want to heal fast, but it is so scary. But every day I remind myself that I am always supported by everyone. Please wait for me!" she added.

Aside from Twitter, Yuki will also be taking a break from her Instagram and YouTube channel.

It was earlier this month that the singer was diagnosed with syringomyelia, a disorder in which a cyst or cavity forms within the spinal cord, following a guest appearance on a TV show called "Clinic Where You Can Meet the Doctor", where doctors first expressed concerned for her health condition during an examination.
