YouTube Star Luke Goodwin Dies at 35 After Rare Cancer Diagnosis: 'Our Warrior'

YouTuber Luke Goodwin has died at age 35.

On August 2, the British influencer — known for his YouTube channel, I Will Not Be Defeated — died following a battle with cancer, his wife Beckey revealed in a video titled, “Little update on our warrior.”

“This is a video that I never wanted to do,” she shared. "He passed away peacefully, he was at home, he had me and his mum and his dad all by his side. Luke is at peace now, he's not in any pain. All of his followers, you have all been absolutely amazing, you all kept his head strong."

"He was an amazing person, he showed me how to be strong even when you are going through the toughest times, he was just amazing, an amazing dad, son and husband," she added. “It’s still rather raw at the minute, but you’ve got to keep your head strong. That’s what Luke would say.”

In August 2022, Goodwin — from Grimsby, England — was diagnosed with stage 4 Leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects smooth muscle tissue and can form almost anywhere in the body.

Although the disease can be treated if caught early enough, Goodwin was told that his case was terminal and he only had a year to live. However, he exceeded that life expectancy by undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy.

Goodwin dedicated his social media platform to organizing charity events and raising money and awareness for others who are dealing with the disease. He was also transparent about the ups and down in his own treatment journey.

Goodwin is survived by his parents, wife Beckey, and their two children Taylor, 5, and Scarlett, 3.

In his final post on July 18, the star shared that his condition was getting worse and he had been struggling for the past 13 days, titling the emotional video, “End of life. Feel like death is on me…”

“It’s really been f—ing hard… never felt anything like it,” Goodwin said at the time. "I've been out of breath, sick, phlegm, you name it. But I am on the mend, I will not be defeated."

Following his death, numerous fans honored the YouTuber in the comments of the video.

“RIP Luke… a battle fought amazing,” one person wrote while another added, “Heartfelt condolences to all the family. I've watched over the past couple of months. Luke’s determination in face of something so terrible has been completely admirable. Well done Luke, fly high.”

“RIP TO A REAL WARRIOR!!!! AND A HERO TO MANY WHO ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION!!” one fan commented. “HIS ATTITUDE TOWARDS THE ILLNESS HAS DEFINITELY HELPED OTHERS IN WAYS HE COULD ONLY IMAGINE!! RIP”
