For better or for worse, it’s true: working from home has changed the way the world dresses.
Now that loungewear has become the clothing choice of many, casual wear sales have been climbing while other categories of apparel stay quashed under the pressure of the pandemic.
Unsurprisingly, the demand for loungewear has worked to American footwear company Ugg’s advantage.
According to data drawn from NPD and Footwear News by Morning Brew’s retail division, Ugg was one of two footwear brands that grew during April, one of the pandemic’s worst months, and searches on Ugg’s website have shot up 129 per cent since then.
Perhaps these results are due to the launch of the brand’s first-ever clothing line for AW2020, released earlier this month.

Now available in 130 Ugg stores and 15 Nordstrom locations, the Ugg capsule collection is described as a range of “elevated” wardrobe essentials inspired by the brand’s heritage and California style.
