New Yorkers Dust Off Sleds For First Snow Storm of 2022
New Yorkers pulled out their sleds for the first time this winter on January 7, as a storm dropped over a half-foot of snow in many parts of the city overnight.
The National Weather Service measured 5.8 inches of snow in Central Park, while a total of 9.7 inches fell at LaGuardia Airport, and 6.2 inches at JFK Airport.
This video, taken on Friday afternoon, captures locals enjoying the snow in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Many children — and some adults — took the opportunity to sled in the park.
Temperatures rose above freezing during the day on Friday, causing some of the snow to melt, but were forecast to fall as low as 21 degrees Fahrenheit (-6.1 Celcius) by early Saturday. Credit: Samuel Oakford via Storyful
