New York Couple Charged Their Wedding Guests $333 to Attend Ceremony: 'Let's Put the Stress on the Guests'
New York's ABC 7 reports that the couple spent $70,000 on their big day
A New York couple charged wedding guests a $333 fee to attend their nuptials.
New York's ABC 7 reports that the couple — Nova and Reemo Styles — spent $70,000 on their big day.
They also charged guests to enter their wedding as if it were a ticketed event, with the bride saying, "People choose to go to Beyoncé concert, because they know that they're gonna have an experience. Let's put the stress on the guests, and let's sell tickets for a wedding."
The groom was less convinced, telling the outlet he didn't expect people to come if they were charged.
The responses were mixed, with Nova telling ABC 7 that pushback ranged from, " don't care," to "Who do you guys think you are? Jay-Z and Beyoncé?'"
One $333 ticket allowed guests a seat on a double-decker tour bus and entry to the 12-hour event, which included stops at sentimental landmarks around New York City, including Hudson Yards, One World Trade Center, the courthouse, and a movie theater.
As for how the couple settled on $333 as the price to attend their wedding, Reemo told Fox 10 in Phoenix, "The number three, three, three stands for change, growth and strength. It was something that we wanted to be intentional about as well for my personal enjoyment. It's a number that isn't too easy, but not it's not too hard as well."

The couple also told the outlet, that their proceeds went to a charity foundation supporting couples struggling with infertility rather than recouping any wedding expenses.
According to the couple, charging their friends and family to attend allowed them to whittle down the guest list to those who truly wanted to come.
"It opened our eyes to people's perspective about us, their value on our relationship and so much more," Nova told Fox 10.
Added Reemo: "We figured that you have to really dig in your pocket and say, ‘You know what? Do I really want to go to?’ We really wanted people who really want to go, for us."
