Yes, the Great British Bake Off final montage made us cry
The Great British Bake Off has finished for another year, and a bloomin' good year it was. Last night's final saw Peter Sawkins, Laura Adlington and Dave Friday enter the tent to compete for the final time. The trio had to complete two complex technical challenges, which saw them making Prue Leith's Coffee Walnut Whirls and the perfect custard slice, before bringing out their showstoppers.
While Laura struggled through both technicals, Peter and Dave fared much better. But when it came to their final creations, it was a seriously close call and 20-year-old Edinburgh Uni student Peter was eventually crowned the well-deserved winner of GBBO 2020 by Prue and Paul Hollywood.
Following his win, viewers were shown a montage of what the contestants had been up to since filming wrapped earlier this year. We got to see Dave cradling his newborn baby Ronnie, Rowan learning to make his own waistcoats, the contestants meeting up all across the UK and all their kids happily playing together. The show also paid tribute to Luis Troyano, a series five Bake Off contestant who sadly died earlier this year.

"What a lovely ending to this years #GBBO the montage of everyone at the end got the tears flowing," one viewer wrote. "I’m so so happy Peter won! Was such a close call."
GBBO's Laura also said she was in tears watching the ending, writing to her Twitter followers, "I’m so emotional (surprise surprise). How beautiful was that ending!? I can’t believe it’s over. I feel so blessed & so incredibly proud of everyone who managed to make it happen. Huge congratulations Peter! Lottie and I clocked you as our winner from day one!!!"
