Times Square was lit up with fireworks as New Yorkers celebrated the ringing in of 2022 amid significantly rising COVID-19 cases.
This footage, uploaded by the New York City Police Department, shows the countdown to midnight as fireworks explode off the building at One Times Square.
Much like elsewhere around the world, New York’s celebrations have been scaled back due to COVID-19, with just 15,000 people, a quarter of the normal number, permitted to be in attendance at Times Square.
