Yasmien Kurdi: Please pray for Beirut!

7 Aug – Yasmien Kurdi recently expressed her sadness over the tragic event that unfolded in Beirut recently, after a massive explosion rocked the port area of the Lebanon capital, killing nearly a hundred and wounding thousands of others.

On 5 August, a few hours after the tragedy made headlines, the Kapuso actress posted a photo of Lebanon's national flag and wrote, "It's a shocking and sad news... Please [pray for Lebanon]."

Kurdi stated that her family was still grieving over the death of their Lebanese grandmother, and now the grief has been fuelled by the tragedy.

"We hope and pray that our relatives and friends in Beirut are all safe. We pray for all the casualties, and for the country. This is a difficult time for all of us and the only powerful tool we have now are our prayers," she added.

Kurdi, who is part Filipina and part Lebanese, was born to a Muslim father, Mohammad Kurdi, with her mother Miriam Ong-Yuson being Chinese Filipino.
