Women donned evening gowns to join a Yangon protest against the military takeover, as nationwide protests entered their fifth day in Myanmar on February 10.
One of the participants told Frontier Myanmar, “We want to show that young girls are also participating against the military coup. We thought these costumes were the most obvious way to do that.”
Local reports said protesters were calling for the release of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected officials who were detained following the military’s allegations of voting irregularities in a November election won by Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy.
