Xbox Game Pass will soon let you play EA FC 24 for free

Microsoft has confirmed the next bunch of games coming to Game Pass, and they include the most high-profile football game of the moment, to coincide with the Euros.

EA Sports FC 24 will arrive on Xbox Game Pass on June 25, in good time for the Euros quarterfinals.

Not so keen on football? There’s another recent arrival you may have missed – Still Wakes the Deep.

This game was added on June 18, and is a story-based first-person adventure from The Chinese Room, the Brighton-based developer behind Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture and Dear Esther.

Here’s the full list of titles coming to Xbox Game Pass, and those just added in the last few days.

EA Sports FC 24 is clearly the spotlight-stealer this month. And, for those who don’t follow the series, it’s what would have been FIFA 2024 had publisher EA not lost the licence to the real-life football association.

However, SteamWorld Dig 2 claims the title of the best-reviewed game of the bunch. It’s a cartoony mining title in which you dig through an otherworldly desert environment, searching for treasures.

Unlike a lot of indie-flavoured games, SteamWorld Dig 2 bears a surface-level resemblance to, the game isn’t a rock-hard rogue-like intended to suck up countless hours. How Long to Beat reckons you can finish it in around 7.5 hours.

And, as the original SteamWorld Dig from 2013 is coming to Game Pass on the same day, so you can see the series roots, too. The original uses procedurally generated levels and is meant to be even quicker to complete than the follow-up. We only just dug through the surface on this one a few years back, so maybe it’s time to return to this charming wasteland.

Looking for something cosy? Check out My Time at Sandrock, a fairly recent release from November 2023. It’s the follow-up to My Time in Portia, and is a farming sim set in a desert. This one picked up strong reviews at release, so give it a try if you’re a fan of the genre.

I think that is the main thing that pulls us together."First invented in Finland more than a decade ago, hobby horsing has taken off at a gallop across the globe. "It is growing every year," said Julia Mikkonen, the chair of the Finnish hobby horse association.This year's championship was "the biggest we have had so far", she added.Beyond the whimsy, great strength and skill is required to jump the obstacles while holding the hobby horse. Some top competitors could give elite hurdlers or gymnasts a run for their money."If you jump over obstacles your hip mobility has to be absolutely insane," said Mikkonen, 20, with some fences up to 110 centimetres (3.6 feet) tall. - 10,000 enthusiasts -"Of course we are all dreaming of having a world championship one day," said Mikkonen, who estimates there are around 10,000 hobby horsers globally."I am still a bit breathless but I am happy with my performance", said 19-year-old Jojo Hanninen as she sat down after her dressage event. To succeed in the sport you have to channel your inner centaur, she said."In hobby horsing, my legs are the horse... I am both horse and human," she said. Hanninen's hobby horse is a grey called Toope, with glittery reins and pink ribbons adorning its white mane.- Welcoming community -Competitors go to great lengths with their horses -- which are also exhibited and judged -- modelling and sewing the heads and adorning them with decorations.  "Hobby horses are art," said Arlin, who makes her own.With the cheers of the crowd still ringing in her ears after an impressive show jumping round, she hailed the sport as "the best hobby ever"."You are doing so many things with your hands, brain and the whole body."Like many of her peers, Arlin found hobby horsing through play as a child. "But the older I became, it became more serious," said the rider, who trains by riding real horses, working out in the gym and doing pole dancing.Rainbow flags in the arena reflected the tolerant values underpinning the community.   "Horses are mostly seen as a girls' sport, but that is not correct.
