At least 25 law-enforcement recruits were injured when a wrong-way driver plowed into the group during a training run in Whittier, California, on Wednesday, November 16, authorities said.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva, a class of about 75 recruits were on a run at 6.20am, as part of a training exercise, when a 22-year-old driver merged from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes on Mills Avenue and crashed into them.
Five recruits were in critical condition on Wednesday, while four others were being treated for moderate injuries, and 16 had minor injuries, Villanueva said.
This footage, filmed by Francisco Silva, shows the aftermath of the incident as large crowds of people tend to the injured on the side of the road.
