AKIKO FUJITA: In our world view today, Israeli airstrikes continue to hit Gaza Friday, killing at least 13 people, including three children, according to local officials. The Israeli operation, including 160 aircraft, marks the largest since the latest unrest began. Hamas has retaliated by launching rocket attacks into Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. More than 120 people have been killed and 900 injured in Gaza so far. During this latest fighting, eight people have been killed in Israel. Egypt reportedly leading talks to secure a ceasefire, but there has been no progress so far.

At least 12 people are dead in Afghanistan after an explosion sent worshippers scrambling just outside of Kabul. The attack happened inside a mosque, as worshippers gathered for Friday prayers to mark the Eid holiday. 15 other people were injured. The blast comes less than a week after another explosion targeted school girls, killed 80 people. The Taliban have already condemned the attack with no group immediately claiming responsibility. Violence has increased in the country, even as the US continues to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan.

And the hacker group behind the Colonial Pipeline attack is now going after a division of Toshiba. Toshiba Tech says its system was hacked by Dark Side on May 4th, though the criminals got away with a minimum amount of data. Spokesperson saying that it has not paid a ransom to the group. And the stolen data has not been leaked so far. Earlier this week, Dark Side claimed it had targeted three other companies in addition to Colonial Pipeline. President Biden has vowed to disrupt and prosecute the criminal group.
