KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 —Famous filmmaker Tim Burton has cancelled his meet and greet session with Malaysian fans due to Covid-19.

The 64-year-old director was supposed to appear for a book signing and a meet and greet session with Malaysian fans on March 21 at The World of Tim Burton exhibition which will be taking place in Exhibition Hall 3, Level 5, Pink Zone, Pavilion Bukit Jalil.

The session however is now cancelled after Burton tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently undergoing quarantine.

Following the cancellation, the Tim Burton masterclass initially slated for March 21 has now been postponed to April 14 and will now be held virtually with more details set to be shared in the coming weeks by organiser, Toybox Projects.

The World of Tim Burton VIP ticket holders will be getting complimentary tickets to the virtual masterclass along with a 10-minute meet and greet session with the director himself.

VIP ticket holders will also be receiving personalised autographs from Burton as a token of appreciation with collection details to be emailed to VIP ticket holders later.

They will be able to collect their The Art of Tim Burton book and merchandise at the pop-up museum and exhibition venue from March 21 onwards.

“We at Toybox Projects would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused in this regard and we take this opportunity to thank the fans, sponsors, and media for being patient and understanding.

The World of Tim Burton pop-up museum and exhibition remains unchanged and will be available to the public from March 21 to July 30, 2023,” read the organiser’s statement.

Meanwhile Tim Burton’s Production Inc. Collection and Exhibition manager Brandi Pomfret apologised to Malaysian fans on behalf of the filmmaker.

“We are devastated to share this news with you but we have received news that Mr. Tim Burton will no longer be able to travel to Kuala Lumpur due to Covid-related illness.

“We know this will come as an enormous disappointment to those who had hoped to catch a glimpse of him at the opening of The World of Tim Burton, however the health of Mr. Burton is our top priority.

“We are thrilled however, that the exhibition looks wonderful and knows that his fans will understand and be grateful for the opportunity to view the artworks and be immersed in his world,” Pomfret said in a media statement.
