A Michigan man has been arrested after allegedly stabbing the president of his company, police said.

Erik Denslow, the president of a manufacturing company in Michigan, was stabbed during a staff meeting on Tuesday. The suspect stabbed Denslow “in the side with a knife” and then fled the scene in a vehicle, police said. He was arrested 15 minutes later.

Local news outlets identified the suspect as Nathan Mahoney, 32. Co-workers told police that Mahoney had a “quiet demeanor” at work.

Police are searching for a motive, but Deputy Chief Greg Poulson told a local news outlet that they aren’t ruling out a possible copycat attack following the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson earlier this month. Suspect Luigi Mangione has been charged with terrorism for the assassination.

“I think that comes to everyone’s mind in this time. We’re going through all his social accounts, all his electronic media and trying to determine a motive for this act,” Poulson said.

Denslow has been president of Anderson Express Inc. for less than two years, according to his LinkedIn page. The company works with the automotive and defense industry, according to their website. Police said Denslow is in critical condition but expected to survive.

The company said in a statement that they were “in shock” over the stabbing and “are also focused on supporting our employees as they process this senseless assault.”
