Wombat Greets Passerby in Snow-Covered Cradle Mountain, Tasmania

A curious wombat waddled close to a passerby as they wandered through a snow-covered Cradle Mountain, in Tasmania, on August 5.

“Only one vehicle allowed on the bridge at a time  I was more than happy to give way to this beautiful Wombat,” local photographer Nikki Long said in a social media post.

A cold snap brought freezing conditions to parts of Tasmania during early August with many residents welcoming the wintry snow. Snowboarders took advantage of the fresh powder that fell on the streets of Launceston while a resident in Mount Field National Park struggled with a frozen tap. Credit: Nikki Long via Storyful
