Two people were confirmed dead and at least 20 people were unaccounted for on August 19 in Haywood County, North Carolina, after intense flooding brought on by Tropical Storm Fred swept through the region.
According to Haywood County Emergency Services, ground, aerial, and swift water rescue teams continued extensive search efforts on Thursday and Governor Roy Cooper said 200 water rescues were conducted.
Travis Donaldson, the Emergency Services director in Haywood County said the two fatalities were recovered on the evening of August 18.
