Woman dies after being hit by car in central London hit-and-run

Two men have been arrested after a woman died in a hit-and-run collision in Marylebone.

The Metropolitan Police were called at roughly 10pm on Thursday to reports of two women injured following a collision with a car in Marylebone Road.

The force said a woman believed to be in her 50s received treatment but despite the best efforts of the emergency services died at the scene.

A second woman believed to be in her 40s was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

The London Ambulance Service and the London Air Ambulance also attended and road closures remain in place.

The car failed to stop at the scene but it was found parked nearby.

Two men – aged 29 and 38 – attended a police station and have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

Both men remain in custody.
