An 87-year-old woman from Berwick, N.S., was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday that crashed into a ditch where she was standing.

First responders were called to the crash in Wolfville Ridge, N.S., around 2:30 p.m. local time.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 92-year-old Berwick man, sustained minor injuries.

A child that was in the SUV was taken to hospital for observation.
