Woman’s Boyfriend Thought Everybody Forgot His Birthday. Then His Surprise Party Went Viral (Exclusive)

Morgann Greene, 24, decided to plan the ultimate surprise party for boyfriend Kyler Doane, 25 — and she documented it all on TikTok

A woman went viral on TikTok for throwing a surprise birthday party for her boyfriend, who was convinced that everyone had forgotten his special day.

When Morgann Greene, 24, of Indialantic, Fla., decided to plan the ultimate surprise party for her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kyler Doane, she didn’t expect that it would go viral, but her video ended up racking up over a million views thanks to the sweet payoff at the end.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Greene, who is pursuing a career in real estate, says that she came up with the idea to surprise her boyfriend of two years about a week before his big day.

“I was honestly struggling with what I should get him for his birthday and I figured that throwing him a surprise party with all of his closest friends would probably be better than anything I could buy him,” she says.

Of course, in order to pull off the surprise, everybody had to be in on it — well, except her boyfriend.

“All of his friends knew. His family, his brother and sister-in-law came from Tampa and one of his best friends came from Miami, so we basically had people coming from all over the state," Greene says. "He was completely surprised, everybody did a pretty good job."

As for the decision to make the celebration golf-themed, Greene says it was a no-brainer as her boyfriend, who owns a fishing charter company, absolutely loves golf.

"We named our dog Bogey because he loves golf so much,” she says.

Another key aspect of the party? The golf-themed cake, which Greene put together herself, just not from scratch.

"I did go buy a plain white cake from the store," she says, "and then I got the decorations from Amazon and put it all together."

The cake was covered in green icing to depict a golf course and was filled with a number of cute decorations, including golf balls, a golf cart with clubs inside as well as a golfer taking a full swing.

And when asked if he really thought his loved ones forgot his birthday, Doane tells PEOPLE he was "pretty convinced."

"I still had a handful of people that reached out, but obviously everyone at the party didn’t reach out," he says. "I wasn’t mad about it, but I was pretty disappointed."

Greene adds, “He was sad but he was like, ‘It’s okay, I only want to spend my birthday with you anyway.' ”

In order to keep the covert surprise party mission intact, Greene reveals to PEOPLE that she had guests park their cars on the other side of the street so Doane wouldn't see them.

“When he got home, my car was the only car in the driveway,” she says.

Doane tells us that simply having 20 of his loved ones there to celebrate him was the highlight of the birthday bash, which also included a pool tournament, and lasted until 1 a.m.

“It was a party for sure,” Doane proudly exclaims.

“There was a lot that went into this, it was very meticulous," Greene says, adding that for a week, whenever any of the party guests would text her she'd "have to hide my phone."

Although prior to this, Doane says that the couple had never planned a surprise party for each other, now it's definitely something he'd like to do more often.

In fact, he tells PEOPLE that "of course" he'd like to return the favor for Greene's next birthday. However, he'll have to go about things in a highly secretive way so she won’t be suspicious...especially now.

He says, "Maybe I’ll do it, like, a week in advance."
